We’re shining a spotlight on one of New York City’s legendary artists, Leonard McGurr, better known as Futura. His evolving creative vision spans across mediums, genres, and instincts, now extending to footwear. Known as one of graffiti’s most influential pioneers, Futura’s iconic hand style defies labels or context. From his early fame on subway cars to his current prestigious gallery and museum exhibitions, Futura’s work boldly reinterprets space through color, characters, and typography. This special-edition Dunk Low is a collaboration between Futura’s commercial product brand and design studio, Futura Laboratories, and Nike’s renowned skateboarding division. This design returns to Nike’s heritage of artist collaborations, incorporating graphic elements from Futura’s paintings into the classic Dunk silhouette. Featuring a bleached canvas backdrop, the shoe boasts colorful overlays, puff print details, custom tongue labels, and insole art. Additionally, it includes a translucent sole that reveals Futura’s iconic signature. Finished with contrast stitching and coordinated two-toned laces, this Futura Laboratories shoe retains the original Dunk Low construction, reflecting his long-standing relationship with Nike SB.
